Anyone based in or near London may also be interested in going riding with Charlie in the Chiltern Hills area of outstanding natural beauty on Tuesday the 26th of July. This is based near Wendover, the birthplace of British mountain biking and less than a mile and a half away from where the Wendover Bash events were held in the 1980s.

Getting to this event by rail from London is pretty straightforward.
Either a Chiltern line train from Marylebone near Baker Street to Wendover.
or get the tube to Amersham and then a train for two stops to Wendover

From Wendover station it's a three mile ride by road or alternatively off-road along the Wendover Arm Canal towpath to Otec Bikes at the tennis club in Halton village.

or...
Take a train from London Euston, via Harrow & Whealstone and Watford, to Tring station in Hertfordshire.

From Tring Station pick up the towpath of the Grand Union canal and then the Wendover Arm, crossing the A41 near Aston Clinton and continuing along the canal to Halton Village.
(A total mostly canal towpath ride distance of 6.5miles).

Of course you can also get to Tring by train from Birmingham and the north via Milton Keynes.

Thanks for putting last night on Chris, they were both such nice guys.

If i had know that you were doing Sherwood Pines earlier i may have booked the day off and come along.

Dave

Only got told of pines as a definite ride organised by the Notts lads at 9.05......I was at sheerwood for 10........ gotta love a turbo ;)

When I've composed myself I'll do a write up etc as I'm unbelievably tired but chuffed at the same time
