Amp Research B5 Resto-Mod project

Hazer

Retro Newbie
Well my 13yr old bike just got a face lift. Call it my resto-mod. Bought in my 20s. Now 40 instead of a sports car, I reinvested in my old chariot. I'm hoping this audience will understand. It's XC not DH, so I don't want to hear about fragility. Yes I've rebuilt the pivots/bushings. It took a long time to get my hands on adapters for the disks (thanks B3). They still needed some milling and me ole belt sander to fit the frame and wheelset. But now with disks (160 f/r) and new bits, she's looking up-to-date. - Hope you Retro riders like it.

MMM Nice...just the right combination of red anodising and US billet machining.:)

Makes me reconsider my B4 monochrome scheme...

All the best

Be honest did you go for BB7's over hydraulic brakes because they had red bits on?

It looks like a stunning bike. How much doe sit weigh?

Why yes I did. I couldn't let go of my proshift (precision billet) brake levers. And so, I went with mechanicals. If it weren't for the great reviews for the BB7's, I would have been forced to go hydraulic.

I actually had the matching red proshift v-brakes on until the disk conversion.

Also thanks for the compliment on balance in color. It's so easy to go overboard with ano and I'm at the limit (I feel) without getting clowny.

I have only a couple more items waiting to be changed out. I'm getting the Risse Astro shock and replacing the Raceface XY and Fizik seat with Kore's I-Beam and Distance saddle. Then I'm done.

And Hey there B3 - I still want to send you private images of the minor adaptations to the adapter you made for me. Just don't know the best way if not by direct e-mail. Guess I can pm them over.
