Tried 1/8" imperial key on the horst link bolts, thought i had a fit but then the bolt hole slid as soon as i put pressure on it.

None of the " keys i have would fit in the pivot bolts.

Here´s a pic of my horst link bolt

Why the hell not use a normal Xmm allen key?? Gaahh
frustrating as f.u.k.c

I had to remove 2 of these when my imperial Allen key rounded out the bolt.. Took a hack saw and cut the head off the bolt. This then left about 4mm protruding out of the inner side which once the frame was split I used pliers to remove. I know have a small fragment from which to match the thread.

use an easy out and replace with metric stuff....simples...

But they will be imperial threads in your frame. :?

you can still change the profile of the nut head to socket instead so rounding off wont be an issue as dome type tend to break easily

But they will be imperial threads in your frame.

Thankfully, the Imperial treads aren't in the frame, but in the steel drum-shaped insert on the outside of the Horst link. This can be drilled out to 5mm plain bore, and the lone bolt replaced with a longer M5 bolt (caphead, preferably) and a nut on the inside.
This is what AMP did on the later B4, Mercedes and B5 frames.

All the best,

you guys are awsome :) This place is the only place that I could get help with this stuff. Will try some stuff tomorow and post the progress

ITS FINALY APPART!!

Took a file and just thinned down the bolts (same as cutting them off) on the horst link. All bushings are in good shape so no need to replace them.

Now i just have to get the leftovers of the bolt out of the horst link piece... Pliers did not do the trick. might have to drill them out. Anyone have any experience in drilling out old stuck bolts?

Next thing is to find replacement bolts for the link and the pivot so it can be easily assembled after paint.
