I need to separate the rear triangle (suspension) from the front triangle for a paint job. How is that done? Anyone have any experience?
What tools do i need?

Any tips or walkthrough welcome. :)

slacken pinch bolts on the pivot behind the b/b shell remove the top shock bolt
tap the bottom pivot out

will give that a try. Don't i have to separate the pivot at the dropouts or ?
So i can completely remove the rear triangle.

the bolts close to the bottom bracket, are those the custom size bolts? None of my Allen´s fitt in them. 1 is just a millimeter to big, the other to small. Same with the bolts on the dropout pivots.

possible to perhaps file one allen key down to size?

I really wouldn't do that. Even if you manage it, you are likely to damage your bolt heads because they are still unlikely to fit properly.

Sounds like they could be imperial. Treat yourself to a set that fits, it will be cheaper than replacing chewed-up bolts.

its 90's american so are unf or similar ,so will be imperial sized keys you need

forgot to mention that you need to split the hoest links (dropout pivots)

Same thing with the keys? so imperial both for the main pivot and for splitting the horst link.

Just done this myself. All bolts will be imperial. Mine were 5/32 but yours might be different.

Loosen the main pivot pinch bolts and carefully tap out the pivot with a drift - it will be quite tight. You will need to take apart the Horst link too - this was the hardest part. The bolts were super tight and needed drilling out on mine, plus there are some small delicate rings in there.

If you get stuck drop me a msg..

If you're re spraying you will likely want to take out the pivot bushings too.

I bought a set of imperial keys and none of these worked either. I did find that a torque head key worked though, but can't recall which size it was.

If y ou need any spares, let me know, been hoarding a few
