Was just curious, is there any pro's and cons to aluminum steerer tubes compared to steel, are they any lighter or are they about the same with wall thickness having to be thicker to increase strength, also are they weaker?. Are they're titanium steerer tubes about and do they offer any benefit?. Just been curious for a little while now so though I'd ask. :D

Alloy steerers are thicker walled but still lighter, carbon are even lighter but no good once you hear a crack as you tighten your stem bolts

Cool could be something worth investing in then in the future, didn't know you could get carbon ones, any idea on price difference?

Carbon steerers are now commonplace on road bikes, all mine have them but on mtbs only available on SID worldcups.

Lol oh SID only Boooo, lol mine are pace so thats not a option then lol, would be interested in titanium tubes though if there's such a thing for pace forks, and if not why not lol

Probably the cost is the major hurdle there. If you have deep enough pockets you could always get one made yourself. ;)

Aluminium is the lighter material so there would be no benefit in going for titanium, by my reckoning.

I think titanium ones are lighter since the wall thickness is far less than aluminium ones.

I own a Pace RC31 C-type and that goes with a titanium head tube. I don't know if Pace used that on other forks, but maybe you check on the internet for that.

Oh yeah... Rock Shox also made a WCS carbon crown version of the Reba.

I think aluminium is the best option for a head tube. Because of its wall thickness I think that's the most stiff option while not weighing a ton. Carbon might crack as I know by owning a SID WCS with carbon crown.

Long time ago I owned an McMahon Shaka Zulu fork with titanium head tube and they reinforced it with carbon fibre to make it more stiff..

...so...aluminium I think :D
