Guys and Gals,

I am trying to see if any of you know if there is a headset on the market that will replace the concealed headset on my (wife/daughters) Alpinestars T26 as there is a little play when braking .... you help would be greatly appreciated!

Need help here too. I'm trying to change the stem of my T26 to a standard stem but found out that the one on T26 is very tiny. Can't fit a standard stem. How? Anyone help needed. Preferbaly with pics. Thanks.

Yes. Measured diameter is 22mm. Btw, do you own a T26 and have changed the stem to standard ones without changing tge original fork? Really need help, if with pics of modifications will be greatly appreaciated. Thnks.

Sure its not 22.2mm this is standard 1". Presume its on a threaded headset which means you would be looking for a 1"quill stem.

hi,
I just measured the fork tube. It's Internal Diameter is 16.5mm. External diameter is 22.2mm. Anyone out there ever tried changing the original stem without changing the fork? What type of stem do you guys recommend then? I've been told by my LBS that there're no stem available that can fit into the small ID.
Let's say if I do have to change the fork, must I too change the head set (bearing and all)? I do hope someone can direct me to the right directions (with pics). Thank you once again. Cheers. :D

So it looks like a threaded fork with a bit left over to clamp an Ahead type stem to, is that correct?

If it is, why not shim the top of the steerer with something like this,

There's plenty of others around.

I'll admit to being confused over whether 1" is 25.4mm (which it really is), or 22.2mm in bike terms. But even if the shims internal diameter is 25.4 you could just widen the slot if necessary.

That would open up the whole range of Ahead stems. The only problem then is how you're going to route your front brake cable.

If I have misunderstood then

Hi johnboy, thnks for the input! :D Suddenly, you've helped to solve my problem! I've never thought of using shims....as for the cable routing, that shld not be a problem. I'll post pics once I'm done. :D
