Alpinestars... Stuck Seatpost

Can any one help? I have just picked up a SWEET 92 Cromega DX... great condition, but the seat post is stuck like a bas**rd :? .. can anyone advise on how I can easily remove this?? Steve.... you seem to be the man of knowledge.... any ideas? Thanks J

It's one of the most covered subjects on this forum,

LGF's stem trick^^^ is one of the most favoured, also a damn good soaking in penetrant, or plusgas, or some form of carefuly controlled heating and I believe coke is a pretty effective method too, but obviously the BB's gotta be out for that one..

i need to rip a seatpost out of an old bmx next week..... is this handlebar trick simply a quill stem dropped down it then twisted like a bitch till it comes free??

That's pretty much it, yep.

Obviously it'll only work on a fatter seatpost with an internal diameter big enough to take a stem quill..

I like the 'put the seatpost in a vice and turn the frame' technique. Much greater leverage that way

+1 with Jason. I'd just add that when I last did this, to avoid just crushing and snapping the alloy of the seatpin, I pushed a socket inside the pin to get a better grip in the vice .... had to chop it out afterwards, though, but no 'biggie'.
