Hi guys,
Always wanted an AlpineStars all mega but due to the scarcity and problems with welds I never bothered to look however during this latest lockdown I stumbled across a cro mega D.X, right Time, right price and all that.
As this was going to be my first build, there was going to be a few critical factors that will effect the finished process
1. The bike was a dog, the gears were so rusted you couldn’t tell what model they were
2. Some epic bellend had used a 1 1/8 converter in the 1 1/4 headset. It’s solidly stuck no matter what I heat or hit it with.
3. It’s lockdown, I’m skint. I’m a tattoo artist with a studio that’s not likely to open till April onwards, and our government are giving us no support until end of feb.
4. As the weathers pants I’m stuck in the house and apparently even just breathing is enough to get the wife wound up.
5. As a kid my parents couldn’t even afford a Raleigh mustang sis, so I ended up with a black and yellow Apollo sis from Halfords
6. Due to point ‘5’ I’ve always kinda made up for such short comings by leaving nothing alone and messing with it .......including devaluing my pride and joy 6 series soft top ( the classic one )
7. If need be ..I may set a webcam up in the garage and borrow the mrs pants .....To earn desperate monies.
8. I could ask the mrs to take one for the team and do the above .....we can guess the answer to that one
So the plans so far are to strip it, respray, replace all the old shat with new shat from the 5 dollar love you long time brigade until I’m at a point of being able to retrace my steps and get some period correct effects. I’m going for a sacrilege look....early America, anodised and bright everywhere...there’s going to be a fine line between it looking like a screaming turf and, that looks rather epic.
My only splash out really has been on the synchros cattle pro ( thank you, you legend.....you know who you are)
Some pics of where I’m at so far....
