alpinestars al-mega 1992 onwards.

Thanks for the interest so far people. I'll get pictures and spec on here but it won't be until Monday as I'll be away over the weekend. Then if there is any firm interest we can take it from there...

Cheers.

HIJACK ALERT!!! :!:

Chaps, I'm also on the lookout for an Alpinestars frame/fork combo, not specifically Almega but lets see what you've got.

A bit of healthy competition never hurt anybody, welcome aboard muddy funster. So what is it your after? I assume a 1991-92 cro-mega or a 1992-93 al-mega e-stay. If you need any help I have the brochures from 92-93 which i'll happily scan for you.

Come on people it get those alpinestars made available, there finally seems to be a market for them!

Ok, she's on!

Well.... kind of. I can only get four images on there as they are around 0.5Mb each thus getting me up to the 2MB limit. Even if I add the extra ones seperately it does not want to take them. I'll have another go later as there are still quite a few more pics. Check out the link:

Spec is as follows:

  • Alpinestars E900/Al-Mega frame, circa 93/94
  • 94 Pace RC35 fork, reconditioned with new elastomers
  • Deore DX rear hub, silver, still v good condintion. Laced to a silver Mavic 519 rim (circa 2000) with DT stainless spokes. New from memory 7 speed cassette, probably HG 50.
  • Campag Centaur front hub laced to a Mavic 217 SUP titanium finish rim. DT stainless spokes.
  • Flite titanium saddle, slightly later version circa 1999
  • 3ttt pro-light quill stem 1.25, circa 1993
  • Original Deore XT front mech
  • Mid to late '90s Deore LX rear mech
  • Original deore XT headset, a bit rough now
  • Old skool Shimano cranks, don't hold me to this but I think they are actually 500LX. Assortment of chain rings old and new.
  • Decentish (probably LX) BB in good condition, and most importantly with the correct axle length (don't remember exactly but extra long!), critical for robust front derailleur operation.
  • Club Roost bar with Kona grips

The rest of the spec comprises of new stuff which I intend on selling seperately unless someone expresses an interest:

  • Deore V-brakes and seperate leavers, silver.
  • Shimano STX 7-speed shifters, the only new 7 speeders you can get as far as I am aware
  • Thomson seat post, silver
  • Michelin XCR Dry[2] tyres

I think that's it. Any questions please ask!

Stunning bike 'the five' that would of cost a packet BITD.

I am interested but don't want to hold up your sale. I have a couple of leads for al-mega's from '92 (which were the bikes I had BITD), I really wish to pursue these for that reason.

It does'nt seem as though you are short of potential buyers, but please let me know how you get on with the sale. Should my leads fall through i'd definitely be interested, I would make you an offer but like I say I need the cash to pursue the '92 version.

Thanks for offering the bike, it looks a real gem. I'll look on with envy should you find a buyer.

Thanks again Mark.

NB, think this is the original post for it too:

Thanks for the interest Mark. BITD it was quite bling, especially with the XTR groupset. I have to say however that mine was never quite up to that standard though, XTR was a bit beyond my means as a student! The bike still gets interest today mind...

Nice seat post but I can't see it lasting too long on anything other than tarmac. Back then I think all seatposts were sh!te - I remember breaking an X-Lite one in the space of two hours!

As for the bike, although I'd let it go if there was strong interest I'm not actively selling it right now so if in due course you fancy another project I may well still have it. In the mean time I might actually finish it - look out for it on BOTM!

I'll definitely be on the lookout for that. Think i'm going down the 1992 route for this next one but who knows. Still chasing a lead in Holland for a 92' al-mega XT but money has a habit of burning a hole in my pocket.
