Hello, I have just recieved this P7 frame that I bought from Ebay to replace my Parkpre, and would like to know if there is usually a dimple in the frame behind the chainwheel.
I understand that it my be there for clearance, but just wanted to check - there is not one on the other side.

Please see pics attached.

Thanks.

I worked in a bike shop that sold steel frames that it had made in the UK....

one batch really needed the little indent for clearance but hadn't had it 'done' at the point of manufacture before spraypainting.

As such they all got 'cold set' with a broom handle.

never had any problems or returns and I know many of these frames are still going strong 10-12 years down the line. :D so either way you'll be fine

It does look as if it is not 'factory issue' and is a circa 94 frame so that could make sense.

sorry if I've mislead you there... they weren't orange made frames. They were made specifically for the shop as they sold their own line of frames and bikes.

but either way I really don't think you need to worry about it and it probably is original.

show us the pic's once shes all built up

yep, that's standard on the P7s and the Clockworks. Its there to provide clearance to the chainwheel. Mine have definitely got it
