Alimo - Dutch Benotto sub-brand (70-80s)

Alimo stands for Algemene Import Onderneming, it was the Dutch company that imported Benotto bikes.

Most Alimo bikes remain in Holland, my bike was purchased in Glasgow from Dales cycles around 1980.

While some Alimo bikes use rebranded Benotto frames, I suspect some others were acquired via Union, or their suppliers.

The burgundy Alimo Nuovo is an identical twin of the Union Sapporo.

This is the Sapporo, with a Japanese frame, made by Miki:

I found an article about the Alimo bike operation a few years ago but I can't find it any more, you are probably right, the bikes are all so different.
My frame doesn't have Benotto lugs, chrome forks or mudguard eyelets, but the frame design looks the same as some Benottos.
