Just put one of these on the road, a Record Carbonio, to be exact. I know these where raced to huge success, but, how do they cope with all the fork judder under braking.

I've put the bike together more like a tourer because the large clearances has allowed me to fit mudguards. It is a lovely comfy ride which i'm sure could take a few miles.

I have xt m730 cantis fitted , but even under reasonably light braking it feels it could get away with me. The headset is nice and adjusted correctly, no play. Are there any options? steel or carbon fork?

How does yours handle?

If the fork has a crown drilling you could look at getting one of those supplementary fork-crown cable guides, this changes slightly how the cable run feeds into the canti & usually solves fork judder issues.

Willing to try anything, so will give it a go, thanks for your input.

No judder on mine with Weinmann cantis.

I think the judder is just symptomatic of Shimano bushings....

Never had any problem with fork judder on either my old CX bike (threaded steel fork) or the current one (carbon with threadless steel steerer). As you say, I wonder if it is peculiar to modern brakesets? Both of my bikes have had the same old-school brakes fitted (mid-80s Modolo wide-profile cantis) with no judder whatever the pad & rim combo.

Have some Mafac Cantis, shall try them, whem fitted, do you go for 90degree cable?

Re Alan front fork wobble, used to be sponsored by Alan via the Holdsworthy company UK inporters of Alan...
They all suffered from front end shake even the road bikes,
To get rid of it try using old fashioned pads , not the modern 'hard ' type
and make sure that the pads are set up with some 'toe in ' on the pads, when the front of the pad touches the rim the rear should be approx papers width away so the rotation of the wheel pulls the rear of the pad onto the rim..

Taken the advice, put the Mafal cantis on, transformed.

The flex is still there and will still take a bit of getting used too, but the violent vibration from the m730 cantis is gone.

Thanks all
