ALAN Aluminium lugged frame - cleaning up

Hello folks.
Planning to build up my ALAN road frame .

I was just wondering if it's a good idea to polish it first.
If so was there any kind of Lacquer/coating used on the original framesets or will it just be a case of redoing it every now and then .

I think they were anodised like other alloy frames from that era e.g. Vitus 979. You can’t really polish it unless you sand the anodising off first, which I wouldn’t recommend.

Yep, as above the frame was anodised with polished lugs, trying to remember if it was anodised in any other colours than silver....

I will just stick with cleaning it as much as I can.
We do get a lot of things hard anodised at work,so that may be an option at a later date.
