After some early 90s Suntour bits

Hi all

After getting snipped on an eBay auction I'm back to the start with sourcing parts for my rebuild.

I'm after the following early 90s bits.

Front Suntour xc or pro derailleur (pull down)
Front Suntour xc or pro cantilever brakes
Suntour xc or pro 3 cog crank with matching arm

They don't have to be mint just functional and not badly scratched.

Cheers
Jonathan

Hi Hurin76

Thanks for the offer but I've already got one from another forum member.

However I do still need front brakes and 3 speed chainset so if you come across anything along those lines let me know.

Thanks
Jonathan

Alas I sold a kona cinder cone and saw the buyer had stripped it and thrown up the groupset on ebay, wasn't something i needed so passed on it it, whole lot went for 30 odd quid, had the xc Ltd chainset and xc pro front/ rear mech, plus shifters.there are a couple of xc pro chainsets on ebay now for £50 plus

Re:

I think that was the auction I was bidding on. The set went for £36 in the end and I was out bid in the last second. The winning bidder was probably using software to but in a last second bid. I had watched the auction for days and was really pissed when I lost, but such is life.

I think some of the prices on ebay are a bit silly. The sad fact is I could buy and strip a retro bike for less than some of these 'retro' parts are priced at but its not in my nature to effectively destroy a perfectly serviceable bike to fix another or sell as spares.

In the end another suitable chain set will come along at a sensible price before long and I'm not in a rush so the search goes on.

Cheers
Jonathan

Re:

I think I have a full set of Suntour XC pro cantis in the garage. They may be NOS if I recall. If not, they're certainly in fantastic condition.
I'm away from home at the moment.
PM me if interested and I'll get back to you when I'm home in a couple of days

I won that eBay auction and can guarantee you no software was used to bid, just a last second £40 bid. I set my limit and leave it while last few seconds, that way I cannot get tempted to make further bids.

When I actually receive the set you can buy the cranks from me, if you want them. I'm after decent XC Pro cranks really.

Re:

Azaro - I'll pm you shortly

Jaxo - I'm envious of your impeccable timing, I've been on eBay a long time and I'd have put money on that bid being software, so well won.

like you I set my price and stick to it so it wasn't the fact you beat my high bid, but the fact I had been waiting days for the auction to finish and sat and watched the last 10 mins tick away which really got my hopes up, and then to loose in the last second was a kick in the nads.

Anyway, if you are after offloading the crank/chainset then I'd definitely be interested so pm me with a price and I'll get back to you.

I probably lose more than I win with my last second bids :? at least I stick to my limits though.

I lost some early hope wheel skewers I really, really wanted last night. Still kicking myself as they rarely come up for sale in that condition and I have wanted for quite a while. So I know how it feels, but you win some and lose some.

Anyway once I receive the set, I'll PM you a fair price.

I paid 30 for the front and rear mech, 15 for the shifters, 15 for the chainset so at 43.50 posted you did alright.
