Morning! Beautiful day for riding!
I am new to road bikes and have only owned one since last summer. I probably haven't ridden it enough, (which could be half the problem) but part of the reason is that it feels so twitchy at medium/high speeds. It occurred to me on my ride into work this morning that part of this might be that my bars are too narrow. They feel a fair bit narrower than my shoulders, which is my usual rule of thumb for bar width on MTB's. When I stand up to pedal up a hill, I can feel a bit like my arms want to "fall off" the outside of the bars (when on the hoods).
So really I am after some advice - can the width of my bars affect the handling of the bike and make it feel "twitchy" and if so, how should I decide on an appropriate bar width?
Or, is it just that I am not used to road bikes and I will lose the wobble as my confidence on the bike grows?
Cheers
