A use for your leftover skip bikes.........

Happy Christmas everybody :xmas-wink:

A bit off topic but thought you might get a laugh out of my just finished creation :D

It is retro in that the main bike was an ancient supermarket quality British Eagle probably late 80s & an equally crap equally old BMX frame & forks, oh & a bit of mild steel tube (top tubes) robbed from an old outdoor sofa
Cut into pieces, mix together & ta-DAR-

The Skip Swing Bike :p

Extra steering stem & forks were cut up & welded to the seat tube, the cut up stem that clamps to the seat tube probably wasn't absolutely necessary but seemed like a good idea.

6 speed freewheel with the lever on the seatube to keep cables simple & only a front brake, which surprisingly doesn't make it fold up when braking even when the wheels are a good way out of line.

It's actually dead easy to ride & great fun, not easy to describe what it's like but sort of like sliding the back end out when cornering without actually doing so, alternatively turn rear triangle & handlebars in opposite directions & turn so sharp you can pivot round your head!

Loads online & YouTube, just search "swing bike" if you're interested. If I were to make another I think I'd make the seat tube from a steering stem to make it look neater......

Wobbly John's front wheel lays over a lot when it's swung.

Not an optimal pivot angle I guess. :xmas-wink:

If I hadn't read how you made it I would of thought from a distance it was some high price exotic bike.

Haha, you certainly wouldn't close up! ;)
