A Tale of Two Saracens

This is looking excellent and I love the colour! I also have a Kili racer E-stay in red which I thought would look great in a pinkish tone. Looking forward to the final build.

Re:

Ok so my original plans of using all the bits from the donor Saracen has gone completely wrong. I'd already started changing bits like the brakes and the stem, tyres etc and generally spending more money than I intended. The final straw was when I went to fit the cantilevers and realised as the bike would have originally had maguras there was no cable stop anywhere. Tried to fit a seat clamp one but the forward facing clamp and pierced top/seat tube made it awkward.

In the meantime whilst on the Peak district ride I ended up buying a Univega frame from weeman_mtb for a very reasonable sum, thanks Chris! I kept looking at it and realised that all the bits I originally intended for the Saracen would go straight on so I ended up building this.

The Saracen project is continuing although I'm now going to collect better parts to put on it, which I think will be better in the long run anyway. I've already got a stem, wheels, crank and hopefully some Maguras.

Re:

Can't believe I haven't worked on this bike this year, been distracted by other stuff. Anyway I've collected a few more bits so hopefully should be able to finish it off. This is how it stands as I left it last year.

Re:

A bit more progress. Chainset and rear mech from Jaypee, brakes from Longun and thumb shifters from scant, thanks fellow Retrobikers.
