My summit is near finished but wondering if it'll be overkill to stick a set of girvin forks on it?

I like the look of em and cant afford a set of trimnells,

I have a proflex with a set on way

What ye think?bad idea or no?

Bars and seat are period correct, handle bars are original, stem is nos, and the seat is what my yukon had in 92 so pretty close :)

Pretty sure unkleGsif is talking about the position. For ergonomical reasons, bars are usually bent backwards, not downwards. And the top of the seat is usually horizontal.

Those are minor details, but we're just picky.

girvins go with proflex like peanut butter and chocolocolate spread - I would leave the proflex intact and the forks as they are - look period correct to me (not that i'm any expert).

you may find the steerer on the girvins is too short which will put an end to your dilema.

I actually prefer my bars turned downward too.. when in the "proper" position my wrists end up hurting a lot.

Agree with above, keep the Girvins on the Proflex, I've seen girvins on other bikes and the can make them look like an 'Odd Box' of a bike. not many bikes can carry off the Girvin look apart from Proflex's. but having said that, you never know, sometimes its worth doing something radical, but be prepared as it may not work out how you want. For me the Girvin experience took some getting used to anyway, now i love them but cant imagine them on any other bike.

I will be glued to this thread to see your decision and verdict :)

Picture is my current Proflex 856 :)
