Well, I have a preference for Sachs and I think this SCM 90 was ideal for the project
The grips, as usual with me, are Ritchey. I usually don't care what model they are as long as they are foam. In this case, grey to match the stem and handlebar

For the tires I have considered several possibilities: Duster pro (I like how they look) Kenda Klimax Lite (I have put them on but they are too thin for a bike with such generous tubes, I didn't like them), Michelin Hot... in the end some Panaracer Magic, I think they have the right thickness and I like the color
Bontrager inner tubes, XXX lite, to continue the "poetic" effect of the transition to Trek

To close the saddle I had a green Ringle, but the truth is after much thought I prefer a good screw, I never change the height of the saddle anyway. Control Tech has always worked well for me, so I don't see any reason to change

I guess tomorrow I'll be able to post photos of the assembled and adjusted bike, already working.

The cranks were the hardest part. It's not easy to give up some M 900s, but I had some Syncros Near Net Forged with STD and they are so nice that I couldn't resist.
Also, if this had been my bike in 1995, I would have put them on sooner or later. By the way, we continue with the Syncros line of components (what a fabulous brand they were in the '90s).
I looked through my chainrings, maybe some Canadian Blackspire for Canadian cranks, Race Face, but in the end I thought it would be better to go all silver and I think that some Real and Vuelta USA are suitable.
I absolutely love those cranks - I’m just gonna have to get some at some stage.
 
Friend of mine sent me this today! ...now THATS what a call a tasteful and juicy Pulse January 1995 build! Not all those weird mashed-up choices of parts ;-) ;-) ;-)

In fact that was the main reason for joining this great community, not the pretty photos or my love for bikes, but to see different ways of understanding the bike, I was stagnating and needed to open my mind. So thanks for your honest opinion👍

That Pulse is a beauty, with black as a secondary color. A success, black is always elegant. The paint job on the fork is fantastic
I preferred silver and gray to match the colors of the XTR M-900
Not much else, I use grip shift because I have been linked to the brand for 30 years. It's difficult to see a bike of mine with STI, in fact I have a box with a lot of STI, in case I need them one day. I also suffer from very severe degenerative osteoarthritis in my hands and it is almost impossible for me to pull the triggers on the STI. Basically I continue riding thanks to the Grip Shift

As for the cranks, well, interestingly I was going to fit some Turbine LPs but I already have several Race Face bikes and I think the market was very broad at that time. And I love the Syncros.
In fact, I recently got some Next LPs for my Rocky Mountain Element SC 2002 and it seemed like too much to put in other ones from the same brand in such a short time

It's not a problem.
First, find some anodized parts to experiment with, never start with a definitive piece. Personally, I've used some bottle openers that they give away as key chains, an old FSA headset that I didn't care much about, and I bought a cracked Alan frame for €40 from which I got the Mavic headset and bottom bracket + some spare parts for the frame that are hard to find. I've cut up the rest for experiments
I use a gel drain cleaner. I've tried several brands and the best is a white label from a Spanish supermarket chain. You'll have to try several and see the best results. BE CAREFUL! Some of them eat the material... as I said, never try with definitive pieces

I let it sit for about 15/20', take it out and rinse it and depending on how it looks, I submerge it again. I think the best thing is to go little by little, rinsing repeatedly. Then a light polish and that's it.

In some places specialized in anodizing they also remove them, but it is a process that you can only do once because it "eats" material
That is why I weigh the piece before and after, to see how much it has lost

I've liked the Syncros Crank 'o' matic bolts for years and I think they were a good complement to the cranks.
I had to mount the front brake lever backwards because it rubbed against the fork bridge. Otherwise the Pedersen Sc 2000 brakes wonderfully
PS. I've put a Minoura Dura cage bottle cage on because I used it a lot in those years and I think it's very discreet and looks good with the cranks, but after seeing the photo that fguki posted I might look for a gold one...
