A non-Ritchey

Re:

Pardon my lack of knowledge  , but am I missing something? Although anyone can repaint a frame and buy decals, the dropout IS stamped 'Ritchey'.

Arguably, I guess anyone could probably get a 'Ritchey' stamp made and get a sledge hammer and have at it, but as I indicated, I'm not knowledgeable enough to know if it's a fake. Can you elaborate?

Re:

Thanks for the info, and thanks for outing a fraud, but I'm still wondering how the average buyer can tell a forgery from an authentic Ritchey frame? Are there other (obvious?) clues about its fakeness, i.e., geometry, weld quality, size, serial number, etc. Did this particular color and decalset never show up in a catalog?

Some 'forgeries' are readily apparent:

I'm thinking that it would be a good idea if the knowledgeable among us notified sellers and/or the website moderators of MarketPlaats, eBay, etc. when someone is attempting to peddle an obvious fake to the unsuspecting public. I'd be happy to out that 'Yeti Ultimate' to MarketPlaats, but I don't speak Dutch.

It's possible the seller has no idea that the bike he's trying to sell is a fake - perhaps he's no expert and it's a bike that he got in a trade, a barn-find, abandoned in a rental house, etc., but it's also possible he's an unscrupulous, bold-faced liar. In either case, I'm guessing the website hosting the sale/auction would likely want to know about it.

Re:

Wrong routing cable, wrong seatpost clamping area, wrong headtube size, etc ...
You could find Ritchey dropouts on dozen of brand (Parkpre, Merlin UK, Rockrider, Access .....)

Re:
