A Netflix build special… (JMC 1995 Specialized M2)

Where did you get the jerseys framed, as I've got an original jersey, ex-jmc that I really want framing rather than having hung on the wall gathering dust!

Yeah i’ve seen your Hardisty logo version, would really love one but assume they made only half a dozen for him. One day maybe if I’m lucky.

Did it myself with an ikea frame. As I needed 6 around the garage. No bugs/mould or anything living in them yet after +1 year.

I put some small hooks up inside the top to hang them off on coated wire coat hangers. First time I tried without that they slide down obvs.

The ikea frames are just MDF so I had to brace them all with extra wood slats on the back so they didn’t warp through the winter, as the garage isn’t heated.

Be interested to know what it cost to get them done professionally.

Checking into the thread, which I've really enjoyed reading - quite the pursuit of perfection.

Massive JMC fan here and I reckon we're probably the same age - lots of familiar posters and a bedroom wall that could have been taken out of my parents house.

For me Dirt was peak MTB, before it all got a little too serious. Still a good watch.

Thanks and I tend to agree that year or so was the peak for me. Although arguably what I’m doing now is me peaking !!!

Even though we've chatted a decent amount over this period, and knowing how much work you were putting into this build, even so, seeing it like this, and all the little extra efforts you've made, really is highly impressive mate!

Although I'm still stumped as to why you've been running that entirely inappororiate XT chainset the whole time!? Surely an XTR M900 version has been long since been secured for this project!?

I mean, based on the two FSXs, thirty-five Tri-Aligns and sixteen Ultimate levers, you must have had a least a couple of sets knocking around you could have slung on there!

Or, are you just saving that for the final reveal shots?

PS. I take back what I said in the PMs. At this point, seeing it all, knowing what you've been through, how close it is, it really has to be Hugi's or bust!

😂 I’ve been waiting for someone to call that out, it’s half the reason I delayed the thread for 5 years !!!

There’s me wittering on about the ‘jewel in the crown of the cockpit ‘ whilst all along she has a massive dump 💩 in her pants and everyones politely ignoring the stink!!!. I mean it’s such an eye sore in every way, you all should have developed a nervous twitch by now. It’s even an octalink !! 🐙

Truth be told, it was just a temporary cheeky swap over ages ago to keep it rideable and whilst M900 cranks turned up yonks back from Poland, the issue was finding the correct square taper bottom bracket size and model, since couldn’t find out for sure !!?

As best I knew it should be 107mm x 68mm shell, but could be a 72mm and assume it’s English thread. But is it XTR UN-91 or Specialized Titanium 🤔

I don’t have many bottom bracket tools either, so it was meant to be swapped out with a cheap taper for size check when the wheel build was due which hadn’t happened at this point.

I went with a 170mm crank set, but no idea what JMCs was 🧐 I figured if was dual slalom bike you want shorter right! …I’ve got the titanium bolts for it somewhere aswell.

Whilst we're on this topic can I mention frame size?
That was what originally put a stop to my non-starter JMC project when I had the forks, could find the right size and didn't want a big frame.

Thanks for posting that video it brought back so many happy memories as a teenager!

Regarding the replica build… did I spot a point in the video where the left hand grip shift was black? 🧐
