A mystery of the 27" 10 speed variety.

Thread revival ahoy!!!

I have finally got round to this again,.. i realised i jumped in at the deep end on this and got a bit disheartened with it - but i'm back on it now as I decided i couldn't bear to part with it!

I measured the drop out gap at 126mm - so i have ordered <and just fitted> a 136mm axle kit. wheel seems pretty central now but still not dead-on, playing with shortening the spacer on the drive side of the hub to shift it over a little more looks to be the way forwards from here on. I took the opportunity to convert to hollow spindles and am trying to find some nice looking skewers to match the looks.

I think it is the wrong time of year to be delving back into this - however what's the saying?... strike when the iron's hot? something like that - you get the idea!

I'm an idiot  what's the saying.... only fools rush in!

I DID need a 140mm axle as i forgot to include the derraillieur dropout to the overall length measurement of my rear axle

honestly this is embarrassing. Now that I've done that, and fitted a tyre to the rear wheel i managed to set up the chain line really nicely,.. i have fitted QR axles and am looking at getting some of those nice allen headed lock skewers.

Currently,.. i have got the wheel centred between the chainstay, but it is slightly towards the non drive side between the seat stays - at the moment i'm not too worried about that yet, my aim is to get this collection of parts bike shaped again and then trouble shoot.

in order to get it basically road worthy I need to buy:

Brake cables,
Front wheel to match the rear, of similar vintage (rigida AL1320)
Inner tube for front tyre

Things that i 'want' for the bicycle,... well i fancy a different saddle maybe some better brake calipers and possibly some new brake levers - I'm trying to find the right balance of vintage looks and appeal, with little modern touches that will not detract from the overall look and feel of the bike.

any recommendations on some smaller pedals? not cleats...
