Retro Newbie
A moderised old bike for sale.
I have here for sale the first bike I ever moderised, I am now on my 6th one.
The bike itself is a Gitane Espoir from the late 80's. nothing too special as I did'nt want to mess up an expensive or rare frame.the frame was properly cold set to accomodate the wider rear hub.
The components used in the build are as follows
Donor bike - Gitane Espoir, built with Gitanes own extralite tubing. Frame has been Alublasted and powder coated in Black.
Frame sizes are bottom bracket centre to top of seat tube 57cm
centre of head tube to centre of seat tube 57 cm
Head tube length 14 cm
Gearing - Shimano Sora 8 speed, HG cassette. as new
Wheels - Rigida Chrina 700c in Black, DT Swiss Stainless Spokes, Shimano Ultegra 6500 hubs, all brand new.
Brakes - Shimano Dura Ace BR 7800. as new.
Cables - Jagwire throughout all new.
Bottom Bracket - Stronglight cartridge, new.
Crankset - The original Stronglight 49D, dismantled and polished 170 ml
Handlebars - The original Atax Franco Italia D352.
Pedals - just some I had lying about, nothing special.
Saddle - Brooks B17 New.
The idea behind modernising old frames is to get a happy blend of the old working seamlessly with the new which this does.
It has only been ridden 20 odd miles on a shake down run .
It should also be noted that the bike has no decals on it, v cool.
