Im putting this down to a hair line crack but If anyone else is running vintage bars I’d give them a check over or better still change them for something newer.
These we’re GB Randonneur‘s & I’m guessing around 1950’s or 60’s so yeah pretty bloody old but I never guessed this would happen , luckily id just left the road and entered a cycle lane running alongside , slightly going uphill with the wind behind me as I got out the saddle with my weight forward , BANG ! was down in heap !
A couple of scrapes and bruises but overall feeling fine and now looking back realising the gods were with me for it happening on the cycle lane ..

Im thinking the dis-coloured part at the top of the break was a crack that was just about hidden inside the stem , the rest you can see is a clean fresh break .
25.5mm bars with a shim to 26.0 cinelli stem . I’ve used these bars for various builds over the years and I’m just glad they gave up where they did as things could of been a whole lot worse .

What a shame! Glad you weren't hurt, anyway. I remember 3TTT used to advertise the fact (I think) that they were the only manufacturer to be able to give a three-year guarantee against breakage. I'm still using a pair of 3TTT bars I bought in 1991, and which have now done 50,000km.... 🤔
