A Journey back in time....

Hello fellow retro bike fans,
Last Monday, on my birthday, I had a pretty uneventful day. Had some nice food with my family and later on before going to sleep I went to check in on FB on any updates and I had this ad pop up on FB Marketplace. This ad was for a 1992 GT Pantera AL in neon red colour, 16" frame, and I could feel my jaw drop and my heart racing, I was excited. I owned the same model back in 1993 when I still lived in the Midlands. I couldn't believe my eyes, I fancied another one as my first Pantera AL got stolen within the first year of ownership. I messaged the seller to ask if it was still for sale and the answer was yes, he had only advertised very shortly before it caught my eye. Anyway we got talking and made arrangements for him to deliver it to my address as I don't have a car.
The gentleman was good enough to deliver the bike in the morning after I offered to pay towards fuel, only fair right?
So now I am in the possession of a bike, the same like the one I lost 31 years ago. It is going to need a little work but I don't mind as that is half the fun for me.
I am hoping to keep this bike as close to stock as possible but with some upgrades over time as and when is needed. So far I have just replaced the inner brake and gear cables and get it rideable for my afternoon session at the bike workshop where I will have access to more tools to strip down, clean and re-grease the bearings.
I have included some photos of my bike to share with you. I am quite excited with this bike as I took me back in time on my first test ride today.

Don’t you just love it when that happens. Looks in great condition
It would have been great to have found any day, but the fact that I found one on my birthday, makes it just that bit more special.
The overall condition of the bike is pretty good for it's age, but it was stood in a garage for the best part of it's life so no real signs of abuse.
I have for now replaced the inner cables and the front brakes as there was not grub screw to adjust the tension. I am going to replace the brake pads this week. The handlebars are a bit rusty and pitted and may replace with a wider bar. As stated in my original post I am making it rideable, so I can get more work done over the weekend. But so far so good, I am happy to have found a good example in the right size and colour. 😁
