a good quality unknown vintage bike

Well here is a link to the photo of the bottom bracket - http://www.flickr.com/photos/99752202@N06/12217901525/ - I dont know if this photo shows enough detail to add much in the way of clues for identification - The word 'Nervex' can be seen cast or stamped in there. Any more info or suggestions are welcomed.

Going to be visiting my friend and his 'quality unknown vintage bike' in the next week - looking for a serial number on the bottom bracket, but I have remembered another clue in the meantime - the entire frame and forks appear to be chromed - anywhere on the frame the non original white paint is scratched - there's bright chrome showing through underneath ! Makes we wonder about the possibility of it being a 'Hill Special' or similar ?

yes i noticed the chrome. personally i would try and make an appointment with H stone and take it to him . Better than photo's.mm interesting 'brite chrome' not ruff stuff as a base coat for paint or enamelling ,youve
obviously been getting clued up on who chrome plated+ the pointed end of the seat stays.
