98 'ish Kona Lava Dome outer chain ring?

Hi,
I have had my late 90's Lava Dome from new. It's the Green model that has rigid 'Project 2' Forks.

The time has come to replace the 5 bolt 42t outer chain ring . I have spent the last couple hours surfing trying to find what I need but still havent found a part number or similar.
I found this post http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=350917&sid=c2d087a6664d3e5d66c4cbd96c597f3c and the crank and chain ring in the last picture look just like mine.

Can anybody suggest a part number from shimano or other manufacturer?

Cheers

Matt

get yourself on chain reaction cycles and look at middleburn "hardcote" rings if it's longevity you want.

TA chainrings are also worth a look, if you prefer something highly polished. IME they last about 5 times longer than Shimano or Sugino. Spa Cycles have a huge selection.

Cheers guys.
I couldn't find a 42t Hardcote at chanreaction but did mange to find and order one from bikedock.

I was worried that maybe the parts for my old bike were no longer made.
It has great sentimental value and old as it is, it's still a cracking ride.
I do enjoy a good blast on it so would have been gutted if it could not be fixed.

Matt

If your big ring is kaput, it would be a good idea to check your chain. If you put a 12 inch ruler on the chain and 24 links come to 12 1/8 or more, then you need a new chain and it's the stretched chain that has destroyed the ring.

Thanks for that.
I changed the cassette and chain last week (first time doing my own maintenance, wohoo :D ). It was only then that it became apparent to me that the outer chain ring needed replacing as the new chain did not sit properly.

Another Q if you don't mind.
How do you tell when the jockey(?) wheels need replacing?

Cheers
