I seem to have ended up with a bike I didn't really want, for a price that convinced me to buy it.
'97 Standardized frs with a mix of bits n bobs.
The idea was to strip it and sell on, but the more I look at it, the more I'm thinking....which is never a good thing.
So a full strip down and rebuild into a rat bike. It's not something I've ever done before, chuck a bike together Frankenstein style. I'm toying with 1x9, mostly to get rid of that horrific looking Shitmano front mech, which is making me want to gag.
So a Sachs/Sram build with Spinergy rear wheel, Crossmax front, Manitou something or other forks,wtb stealth pedals, IRC tyres, not decided on a chainset, and need a 30.9 seatpost I think!
Now the question is, how much restraint can I show, and not start caring too much and putting posh bits on it. I've just put a Gorilla tape chainstay protector on, and I feel ok about it. I'm starting to feel all "Backstreet Heroes" and may well go out and buy myself a Hawkwind T-shirt.
Anyway, more on the build when I gather more shite for it. Tata for now
