'96 Marin Monocoque (purists beware! ;-) )

Re:

Thanks mate!
It's true Spinergy are great, in this frame they match very well!
I am going to send you a PM with my email in case you prefer send the pics by email.
Thanks again!

I'll have to check, right now the Monocoque is in pieces as I needed some parts for my recently purchased Surly Krampus. But the replacement parts are in the house, so now I just need to find time to put it all back together.

Just seeing the first pic reminds me of the 2nd

Thats too retro for me ;-)

Checked the weight: in it's current 1x9 state it's 11,5kg, pretty OK for such a bulky frame.

And of course some updated images:

Now I just have to find a proper chainguide instead of this old XTR front derailleur. Tried it without a guide but speeding over roots and drops dropped the chain...

That thing is just cool. Have you thought about a narrow/wide chainring instead of a chain guide? I have a Race Face one on my hardtail and it's been fantastic.

I had a 30t Hope narrow wide on it before (which worked like a charm) but that had to go to my new Krampus. So for now I fitted something I had lying around.

And nice to see you guys think it's cool! On of my buddies (riding a Cannondale Trigger...) thought the Monocoque was a Halfords bike. (In the Netherlands Halfords is pretty crappy, they don't sell Voodoo like in the UK)

I guess a Paul would be more period correct, but the Superstar jobbies have so much colour choice  . . . or you could go down the DIY route as I have with several builds (DMR hinged clamp, Blackspire/MRP or DMR roller and appropriate length allen bolt and spacers to fine tune the chainline).

Although as suggested above, if you're not too worried about fitting more modern stuff, a narrow wide chainring would be perfect. Not tried the cheaper Superstar chainrings but both Raceface and eThirteen rings do the job just fine.
