96-98 Klein Attitude confusion

Possibly because they are TREK Kleins. Not "real" Gary Kleins any more!? TREK bought Klein in Summer 1995. 1996 was the first inofficial official "Trek model year".

Then explain this....I have a chance to buy a 96 attitude race frame.....the serial number shows "P" after frame size which coincides with an article I read that this era Klein's Attitudes were upper end pulse frames with the gradient tubing and internal cable routing. My current 98 Klien Attitude Comp clearly has a "T" after frame size number which coincides with Attitude designation.

In the crossover years of the Trek takeover, the company used its existing inventory of tubes to make frames. Trek kept the same positioning of the models Pulse—>Attitude—>Adroit but it didn’t have anymore of the boron/carbon fiber reinforced tubes to use for Adroits. So, tubes originally meant for the Attitude were repurposed for the Adroit (these Adroits would now have T in their serial numbers instead of X’s, with some exceptions); tubes originally meant for the Pulse were repurposed for the Attitude and that’s why these Attitudes have P’s in their serial number. Hope this helps.

Yes, with the Trek era
Klein original Adroit disappeared
Klein original Attitude became the Adroit (but with Trek alu)
Klein original Pulse/Pulse II became the Attitude (Trek tubing)
a Klein-Trek cheaper line was introduced, with Klein built rear end and Trek built front triangle, and named Pulse.
