94 Zaskar Which of the four forks would you choose???

Manitou

Think I am leaning towards the Manitou with XTR Headset.

Does anyone know anything about the original GT Skewers?

They are briefly shown in the 94 Catalogue. But all of my Googling has come up with no details. Like I said I do have a nice set of m900 xtr Skewers...but the GT's seem to be original...thoughts?

Finally...tyre selection. Anyone have any opinions?

Will post more pics as the build continues.

Thanks

Ditch the Q/R and get some light ones. Would have been one of the first upgrades any one would have done.
The XTR may work well, look nice but they are not light, no self respecting bike would have used them  Only ever see them used by period correct, as catalogue, builds in Retro Forums.

Sounds like the overwhelming consensus is to go with the RockShox.
Sadly I dont have an SL version. However, I do have a couple rough Mag21's.

So with that said....I know the Mags do not take to paint well...but what are your thoughts on one of these painted to match the decals?

No offense to the Zaskar purist but I am having troubles with the gold and polished aluminum.

The other option is the rigid.

Thoughts?

TIRE CHOICES??????

Here is my tire stash...sadly not a pair in the lot.

Any opinions on choice?

If you have one that would help me make a pair I would love to hear.

Thanks for any advice.

I painted my Mag 21 legs SID blue with standard car paint, it lasted for ages during the rough & tumble of the 90's.

Would you have a pic that you could post by any chance?
Thanks in advance.

Sadly, I sold this a while back, but my full M900 Zaskar LE had Mag21's on the front end.

When I got it the paint was shot on the forks. So, a quick rub down got rid of all the flaking paint, and then I painted them up with gold Hammerite which was an exact match to the original RS gold. Also, Hammerite is really hard wearing, so ideal for all the knocks and scratches forks take. Finished them off with some original RS decals.

Job done.
