1994 model Kona Explosif with the Tange Prestige/Concept Ultra Light custom tube set. The down tube is ribbed and the seat tube bulges where it meets the bottom bracket.
It’s an 18” (c-t) with a 23” effective top-tube.
The frame has been resprayed in a Cipria Gentilescha Metallic which is a Fiat/Lancia colour. I have got some left over paint that can be provided to the winning bidder should you wish to paint the fork and/or stem.
Everything is in great condition:
The frame has no dents, dings or rust.
The forks and stem have some minor surface rust but are in good condition for 16 year old components.
The bars and seat post are in good condition. The logos on the bar have completely vanished; the one on the seat post is still visible.
The rims are straight and show little sign of wear. The rear hub has been re-greased although the cones and bearings are a little pitted. The front is fine. Both wheels run true. Will be supplied with original Shimano skewers. The tyres and tubes are not included.
The Chain, Cassette and BB have covered less than 100miles since new.
All three chain rings show minimal wear. The middle ring is newer than the cassette & chain!
Both mechs shift fine although there is minimal play in the rear mech, which is to be expected of a component this old.
The headset is smooth and has been re-greased.
The shifters work fine in indexed (right only) and friction modes. The right shifter has slight play.
The brakes were new when fitted. The pads have minimal wear.
The saddle is not included in the sale (it’s too comfortable to let go and it’s got a hole in the leather anyway).
I did have a 15deg rise Syncros stem fitted (hence the use of the fork hanger and not the Velocity stem cable routing). Syncros stem can be included if wanted.
I’ve added some purple anodised bits for that truly retro look and they go really well with the colours in the metallic paint.
The bike has been assembled by an experienced CyTech qualified mechanic (me!). All of the parts have been greased and set up to the best of my ability. Overall this bike is in really good condition for its age.
The tyres, tubes and saddle are not included in the sale.

Apologies for the muck & dust on the frame etc.
