Yup, fully aware cheers, currently on the amonia step on the Orange.

Already tried cooling down the post internally using freezer spray, i'll let you know how it goes.

Looks like you may be progressing to the hacksaw blade if no luck with the amonia! At least it's aluminium!

Cheers

Slightly hard to believe that anybody would hammer an over-sized post into a £500 frame. It looks as though it's well into the seat tube too, which makes it if anything more difficult to believe.

But if it is well into the tube, it means that the usual 'ultimate solution' of cutting it and then sawing it along its length would be all the more difficult. I've always wanted to try something that even Saint Sheldon doesn't mention - drill a hole horizontally though the post and insert a long bar for maximum turning leverage. Unfortunately, I've never needed to. Has anybody tried that?

PS wouldn't ammonia destroy the paint?

drill hole level with smaller post and alu splits  but if you are smart melt it out alu melts a lot lower than steel works every time   but you'll been an account with argos or atlantic finishes after

I have previously tried drilling a hole through the post and using a large lever to torque it, twice infact. The first time worked fine, the second time was a few months back on this clockwork, the lever just wrenched the top of the post clean off. So it can work...but it depends how stuck your stuck post is.

As for the paint, so far so good, the frame has a had a quality enamel paint job at some time and it seems to be holding up fine.

I am going to try shifting the post again tomorrow, If I cant do it in the morning it goes back in the shed once more as I need to head back off to Oxford tomorrow.

that does look alot like the post is too big for the frame. i reckon the drill and lever method is why there is no clamp on the post. seriously think you are looking at sawing that out.
or, this is what i thought of last night, with the bike upside down, you drill a big hole in the bb shell, drop a headset removing tool down the seat tube with a long chisel and bash it out from undernieth. of course might need a bit of welding on the bb after.
