'93 Kona Cindercone f&f - SOLD!

Sam R

Devout Dirtbag
20" 1993 Kona Cindercone & P2 forks; cable guides on dt filed off but easily replaced circa £25 from Merican. Bad rattle-can job in black. Wheels aren't so good - probably not worth bothering with. Got original velocity stem sans quill and rear cable guide collar. Worth a restoration.

Yours for £20 + £10 delivery

Cindercone F+F

If I'm not too late, I'll take this assuming it's structurally sound.

great deal !

 at the interest in this, I better add the following just so all is clear:

the history of this bike is dubious I found it at the local tip in 2002, it having been crudely sprayed blue with virtually none of the original components, save a mangled rh DX shifter, velocity stem missing the wedge + bolt and 1 pair of LX cantis (I have them but they're in cornwall - heck, I'll post them to whoever buys it when I next go home), shit, bent wheels, odd cranks that had been attacked with a grinder (the rh was original Sugino), all sorts of horribleness. I think but can't be sure, that the serial no may have been filed (not by me!). I only knew it was a Kona from the geometry and fork. Got it home sanded off the spray paint and lo - that cool metallic green to silver fade could be seen plus a cindercone tt sticker. Some searching on the net - 1993 match. Rashly, I (carefully mind!) filed off the cable guides thinking I may get track ends brazed in (I didn't). So I got a can of black paint sprayed it and built a SS for getting from a-b at uni. Didn't use it much, it's been sat in a shed since 2003 (when I bought a lovely Blizzard - now on its way to another retrobike member - for a song). Now I'm building a new retro-inspired steel hardtail :D and want to get rid of clutter and free some funds.

It needs 3 gear cable guides brazing (2 on down tube, 1 on chainstay) and a respray - obviously green to silver fade!

Or left as is and stripped and sprayed for a tidy single speed project :)

well, yes. Any frame builder worth their flux could put a nice pair of slidey drop outs on it. Although looking at the Mercian website this seems expensive - probably quite labour intensive though. Any buyer can have my custom chain tensioner with adjustable trim!
