'93 Geliano - please shed some light on this obscurity!

Re:

I think that the cranks, seatpost and bottle holder paint is really nicely executed and definitely not a "let's use the spare paint" job.
Nice bike but with low end components. 300 seems expensive to me.
Interesting if it was cheaper.
Orbea had frames with similar geometry, used by pro team Caja Rural. It was called Delta geometry. Front wheel was 700 like this one.

Thanks for the replies guys, glad to hear someone else is on a Geliano too! Peer support I guess. :D

I posted this bike on the "How much?" thread and got quite an alarming reply:

Sorry to say this but it's a mess. Paint on seatpost and chainset suggests the owner had some left over when they patched the frame up. Seriously, give this a wide birth, it's someone's parts bike. Calipers are very low level Shimano, someone has painted the chainset, this is a real no, no. The rims look new and cheap which suggests equally poor hubs. Don't buy it, you could spend this kind of money on something much, much better.

Do you think agentorange is on point??? I'm starting to hesitate a bit to be honest, and wouldn't want to ride something too uncomfortable either (although my back is still young compared to some of you oldies :D ). It still looks cool IMO....

Reading my comment again I can see that I may have put a tad too much negative spin on it. I buy a lot of used bikes and the one thing I hate is homegrown paint jobs usually done by thieves to mask their crimes. I'm not saying this is the case with yours but it's the first thing I saw with my blurry eyes. That said, it appears your cranks paint seems reasonably well executed and it's clearly a theme with Geliano bikes. So, prob best ignore my above comment.

I don't know the brand but considering the parts mix I would also add that 300 is still a tad optimistic.
