93/94 Clinton, On The Rocks

Hi guys, I’m Jack. I am relatively new to retrobike.
This is my first build (I’m only 19). Hope you guys approve.

This is my 1993/94 Clinton on the rocks mtb. These bikes seem to be very scarce and so information on the brand is thin on the ground. Any info on this bike or Clinton in general would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I can tell, this bike is german domestic market only, my frame was imported from Poland. I have never seen another Clinton mtb in the uk.
This bike, as you see it, is a full custom build so only the frame is imported.

Specs-
19” carbon/steel composite frame
Pace rc30 mk2 composite fork
Mavic 261/231- new smoke/dart
M735 deore xt front and rear derailleur
M560 deore lx shifters and brake levers
M569 deore lx crank
Sakae low fat pedals
Mk1 syncros quill 1” stem with noodle
Tioga 1” headset
USE straight bars ( 0 deg rise, 0 deg sweep)
Onza bar ends
Ritchey seatpost
Flite titanium saddle
Ritchey skewers
(Onza) prototype HO canti brakes by Boulder Bikes

Full build: 11.3 kg

I am pleased with the bike just now although it is a constantly evolving project so specs are subject to change
(Matching syncros seatpost and crank)

Welcome to Retrobike!
Excellent first build: that bike looks great and I've once again encounter a bike brand that I never heard of before: thanks!
Forks look good on it too: is that the original color?
Hope you have deep pockets to support your desire for a matching Syncros crankset .
Enjoy riding and tinkering, in my opinion, a retrobike spec cannot be final by definition!
The German instructions on where not to ride this bike are a nice detail!

Thanks double EF, I’m glad you like it.
The forks have been powder coated as the prior finish was sub par, they were originally chromed.
Until I had bought this frame I had also never heard of it!
I’ve already put the German instructions into google translate and was quite amused myself.

It rides quite fast and smooth, I have it set up with rigid forks so it’s kinda similar to my dads cinder cone but there’s a little more give in the frame.

Yeah I don’t buy bikes unless there older than me, that’s the rules.
He won’t be too jealous as he has a few nice bikes of his own. There’s a build thread of a Fuchs a few pages back. That’s my dad.

He made a great job of this one. We’re in the middle of collecting parts for his next build just now. He’s got most of the parts but requires a few more before he makes a start. We all ride retro in this house, my wife’s taken a real shine to my Fuchs and cinder cone. Oh and my daughter claimed my Kilauea as soon as I’d finished it. Guess I’ll just need to find an explosif.

Hi Jack. I have just seen your post. I too have a Clinton 1990s MTB! And I am in the UK (Inverness). I have had it since about 1992/3 and been riding it ever since. It's currently out of action as I can't get the bottom bracket out . What type of BB was / is yours? I was planning an overhaul. Like you, I can't find any info about Clinton bikes. I got mine from a bike shop in Marple, Cheshire (shop no longer there). I'll post some pics...
