Did you just drill a hole through the handlebar clamp for the front brake cable?

Drilled two actually. First was small, bit bigger than the cable . I then enlarged the original hole large enough for the noodle to countersink into the stem to secure it in place and create a clean finish. The larger hole only went into the stem 3mm or so not all the way.

Not sure what the odds of finding the exact fork for this frame would be but DAMN

The original double butted direct drive is one of the best rigid forks ever made for 26in bikes. Light, good handling and clearance for 2.5in tires.

Good finding the original forks, although quite like the ones you fitted. Keeping an eye out for similar myself.
