But to elaborate, I suspect to cover up chips, scratchesin the paint...there were also lots of stickers on the frame, which I have removed and these were covering such chips. Cheers K

K keitht Senior Retro Guru Feedback View Aug 16, 2011 #15 Bump. Just to confirm, black paint on stays will polish off. There are a few chips underneath, so it seemd the previous owner sprayed the stays to cover up/protect the chips. Also looks like he did the P2s at the same time... Would swap for some minty 96/7 Judys....ideally blk & red ones, with v brake mounts only. K
