I am using PCL in Bridgwater. They aren't the cheapest but are capable of high quality finishes. This will be the 4th frame I've taken to them I think.
The std forks were Blue as in the photo's, but I'm exercising some artistic license in having them done in Black. Gil will be getting an order for the repro graphics set.

Thanks for that and might give them a call when I get my arse in gear and start stripping the bike.

Here's a Kona I've wanted in my stable for a long time. The first of the Kilauea model, not featured in the catalogue but introduced mid-year. Unusual.

This 'donor' cropped up on here. I'm not best pleased with my purchase but it is what it is. No pictures pre-strip as I was not particularly happy about it, but I've pulled it apart & she has come apart easily with no fight from the b/b or seatpost which by rights ought to have been stuck solid.

Here it is ready for the boot of the car.

It's pretty beat-up as is evident. I've dropped it off at the powder coaters & found RAL 5022 to be a perfect match. I thought I had a pic with their sample next to the frame but it's not on my phone. It should take a week or so until ready. I plan to tart-up the Impact headset & blast & paint the bars & Velocity myself.

Looking forward to seeing more of this. I need a bit of inspiration to finish my Cinder Cone.. Definitely agree with black forks

Okay, right on cue, the powder coaters called to say the work was complete on the frameset. I couldn't wait to get it home & unwrapped.
The lighting conditions between pics of before & after are waay off. But for me, the colour match is perfect. RAL5022

What's the plan with decals? Do you need to laquer over them or can you just apply them on their own on top of the powder coat?

I think Gil offers 2 types. I intend to just apply them minus any laquer on this one. I think the Velocity/bars I'll laquer over. I need to hit up Gil for these. I have a set for a Cinder Cone which is the same minus the Kilauea top tube name decal, so could perhaps forge ahead with applying them.

Headset & b/b are in the ultrasonic cleaner now. The Velocity headset cups will need a lick of paint I reckon, the insides & bearing track are fine despite being almost dry upon disassembly.

That dog collar has been hacked. I did similar on my cinder cone. Weight saving yeah Still works fine

The powder coating was £144. It's cheaper & quicker if you are able to blast it yourself.

I noticed the dog-collar had been filed out to clear the top tube, I figured it was to sit the brake cable inner wire closer & neater to the top tube. The sort of thing that my teenage self would have done. I'll compare to the one on my Cinder Cone. I've literally just come in from pressing in the headset cups & screwing on the dog-collar funnily enough.

I couldn't help myself with putting some decals on. I figured it would spur me on some if the frame looked more inviting. It's not so plain now. Sorry for the poor pics, the energy saving lamps & my phone cam don't play well.
