'90 GT Tequesta Nimbus.....

You've got some work on there! I have a similar job to do, what paint will you use?

Probably just some automotive aerosol - not sure it'll be particularly durable but the cranks will look waaaay better than what they do now. And considering the spec level it's about all that's worth doing!

Had a go at finally fixing the chainsuck....

Suckage!:

Primer!

Filler (& sanded)

Top coats of white & blue - usually spraying on too much so it runs slightly is bad, but when it's two colours you get the nice swirly effect. Quite pleased with how this has panned out.......

very impressive finish. you must be pleased with that, worth the effort!

Yeah - it worked out better than I thought it was going to! Just a few minor bits to sort now, paintwork wise..... :)

Finally got the crank arms re-sprayed and refitted. Couple of coats of Rover Storm Grey (seemed like a good-ish match) and a couple of coats of lacquer and they're good as new.

All cabled up using some NOS Dia Compe & Suntour Index cables (the only NOS bits fitted to the build actually)

Replacement X-1 levers. I had already lightly restored the levers that were on the bike but I managed to find another set which were the rarer "Chroma" version - with the neon yellow adjusters. The Chroma bits featured neon additions to the mechs & and levers. Ultimately quite pointless.....but interesting nonetheless.

All done bar the pedals and a bit of setup! Also need to draw up an artwork for the GT "All Terra" chainstay protector and get one made.

Thanks for the kind words guys, appreciated.

Love doing budget builds - although I haven't totted this up - I probably spent more on it than I should've done. I didn't necessarily set out to restore this to original spec but seemed to have ended up there.....even down to the Instaflate pump, GT toe straps and the GT waffle grips. More to the point I've fixed all of the issues that the bike had.....which is really satisfying (missing tooth on rear cassette, loose freehub, missing spring adjuster on front brakes, stuck seatpost, incorrectly fitted chainring etc etc)

Looking up the original specs/ bike history and hunting down hard to find parts (good quality or otherwise) I find really interesting.....love doing it! :)
