86 Mountain Goat Whiskeytown Racer

It really is always the small things, can't tell you how many times I've bought something - often a rather dear thing, and thought "at last" as the DHL driver pushes the bottles and cans to the side, paving his way towards the front door, placing the parcel because I always tell them to do contactless so I can look at them through the window, only to realise that although the thing I bought fits, it's lacking bits, and that's just tits.

More percented water for me, thanks

Understated but just oozes appeal.

There seemed to be a clutch of Manufacturers in and around the same time who just got these bikes spot on.

I love it.

Hite-Rite arrived today 😁 However my quick release bolt isn't long enough to fit it 🙄😭

I could use a Hite Rite on my bike but i would have to buy a new seat collar and QR (mine has the QR on the drivetrain side) along w/ the HR. From 3 different vendors on line. And then hope everything works together. So i always postpone the whole thing and go ride the bike instead.

It'll go on, just gonna take a bit longer, & I can still ride the bike fine it just means it's going to all of 10 seconds to adjust the post should I find a decent descent on the trail...

Thanks, I think I'll leave it alone now, don't want to get carried away and ruin it's authenticity. Lovely to ride as well, very agile. May swap the bottle cage though when I get one.

The specialised parts were an option fitted by Mountain Goat from new & I was going to swap them out for something more fancy but decided originality is best for this build.
Hope you like it. I do 😁

So I've only gone & done it, I've just thrown this into my first BOTM competition! Genuinely don't expect a win but it's fun & another step in getting more involved with the forum....... Actually sod that VOTE FOR ME TEAM GOAT ALL THE WAY!

Lovely bike. I'd have had it myself if it were a little smaller. I know it's hard to find period correct parts for really early ones but I'd like to see a Turbo or something on there in place of the Velo Jet. Can't argue if it suits your bum though ;)
