Way back when, around 1987 one of the rich lads at school got a Raleigh mtb. It was one of the first i'd seen in the flesh and I was smitten.
If memory serves the frame was mostly white, with pink and green on the weld areas ala Clockwork.
Does anybody have one? Has anybody got a catalogue from that far back?
Ta.

Finding info on old raleigh is a nightmare, theres so little of it about.
I know there is a raleigh forum[and i might even be a member :?  ]
I'll see if i can find the link ;)

The bonded ones around 89ish (in the US) were: XT group "Peak" then the Deore group "Chill". One year about right there, the Chill was all white.

i had an appalachian, first proper cycle. Shimano Deore 2 throughout with a 531 frame, mine rocked a flexstem front end with a pace bar too.

.

"Peak" now that rings a bell.
The Raleigh forum seems to have a lot of much older stuff, i'm going to have a rummage though ;)

'89 Appalachian was the White/Pink/Green one with Deore, Thunderroad was white/orange/black with XCD6000, Cajun had Exage Trail and was white/blue/light blue and the top bike was the Avanti in a black with some sort of white highlights and XT. All were 531, higher ones alos had 531 forks.

There is a catalogue scanned somewhere on the web, just not on here.

'90 saw a shift to longer lower stems but the range didn't change much IIRC and the Techniums were added in the UK. After that I am not sure.

Carl.

drcarlos is spot on, i had 1 friend with the Avanti (his parents had too much money!!) and another friend had an Appalachian (his parents didnt have as much money!!)

Both bikes weren't too bad if a bit on the heavy side.
