80's Viking Project

Just noticed I made a thread in the wrong forum
(when this is the place to post) :facepalm: sorry.

Here's the bike which is mine, paid for, just waiting on delivery.

This is it when it first came into the workplace.

This is it as it will be sold to me, had the steel wheels changed for aluminium ones, new SIS rear mech, tyres and will have Weinmann drop brakes (all temporary)

I plan on getting 105 gruppo as I am on a budget, new alu wheels, drops etc.

I'll keep the thread updated with my progress.

The man who is selling me the bike (as it is still at the warehouse Action 21) has got the rear deraileur set up working sweet, added bar tape and got rid of the foam grips, front brake set up, cleaned up the crankset, got some surface rust off and found a inner tube for the front.

What do you think of it so far?

I've seen the Spoon / brown bar tape combination on an eighties Peugeot and it looks really good - obviously modern but not in a bad way. It should work well with silver paint too...

Did a quick sketch up on paint of what it'll look like with brown saddle and bar tape.

Also I'll have tan walled tyres.

Also might keep most of the original paint on and just paint the lugs.
