Hi guys

Been off here for months due to life taking over but just finished my Raseza build with 8 Speed DA. I want to take the bike to the Alps this year but the cassette is a little, err, tough for me old legs these days. Looking to fit a 25 or a 26 cassette. Do I need to get a DA one or will a Hyperglide one work with the shifting?

Let me know
Cheers

Just make sure you don't go too large withe the rear sprocket - 26 is fine, and you might be able to get a 28 to work.

There is nothing different (spacing wise) about DA 8 speed cassettes, compared to any other shimano cassette.

11-28 works a treat on a 7401 rear mech. I fitted one the other day, no adjustment necessary.

I would have preferred a 12-28 but couldn't find one. The 11 ring brings the chain within 1/2mm- 3/4mm of the dropout inner.

I can't imagine my feeble legs pushing a 53 X 11, so it's not really an issue for me but I do like the 39 X 28 that it offers for uphill though.

Hi Bugloss......
I wonder if you could let me know where you got your 11-28 cassette. I would be really happy if i could get one to fit with my 7402 rear mech.
The majority of my cycling is down in Southern Spain, and there are just no flat roads where i live.
Oh and the knees are not what they used to be :D .

Best Regards.

Dave.

Re:

I bought it off the shelf at Vincini Cycles in Upminster, Essex.

Ask for Colin.

I tried it out the other week with a 7401 rear derailleur on the Hamburg-Berlin-Köln-Hamburg Audax and it worked faultlessly.

SRAM do a PG830 8 speed MTB cassette in 11-28. It's cheaper, lighter and harder-wearing than Shimano...but apart from that it's rubbish. It is also nicely plated and shiny.
