79 Carlton professional

Love them too, best bang per buck frame of the era :) I've got 2 as well :) interesting to see one in blue. All the ones I have seen were Team Silver Lustre from the factory.
They were milanese silver from 77 to 80 then polar blue for 80/81 from what I've noted on the carlton fb group. Latest mk5 I've seen was a 83 in Raleigh team colours.

What a fine looking pair Andy...👍 and great to see something other than Campagnolo. I've got the same frame with three holes in the head tube. Before it was delivered I thought it was a Carlton Pro which had been refinished in later Team Banana livery, even the headbadge had been updated to the two pin version so I've actually got five holes now.
Any clues to the new paint scheme...❓
Really loved this team paint in this years tdf so this is the colour palette I'm considering astana-wilier-filante-2021.webp

Would you believe that my first restoration, about 9 years ago, was a Carlton Professional that I bought locally for £125.

I had absolutely no idea what a great bike it was. I stripped it down and rebuilt it with what it had on it (mostly Arabesque) after having the frame powder coated a ‘nice’ blue. Then I sold it on for a couple of hundred quid.

I’ve built and/or restored over 30 bikes since then and I still shake my head when I realise what I had and then let go....

Live and learn. 🙄
