531 Retro Singlespeed

Dirt Disciple
Hi,

The bike was originally a a Raleigh Granada from the early 80's ( I have the brochure page scanned if anyone wants it!)

Basically it has been stripped down, and rebuilt. It has shot blasted and resprayed professionally (the paint was even baked in an oven) in a textured black finish by an professional company run by an ex-Raleigh employee.

The wheels have had the bearings serviced and then trued.
It has had the following new bits:-
- Tyres
- Rim Tape
- Axle
- Brake Levers (Shimano)
- Brake Pads
- Brake Cables (Inner and Outer)
- Chain
- Bar Tape
- Single Speed Sprocket
- Cotter Pins
- Bottle Cage
- Rear Spindle
- Headset
- Raleigh Badge
- 531 Decals ( Frame and Forks are genuine 531)
- Seatpost
- Saddle

I believe the Chainset is from a Chopper.

The brakes are Campag from an old Mercian, don't know the spec, can post photos.

It has only been riden once for 10 miles to make sure nothing was loose and then it has been in the garage.
No pedals are included ( though might be able to throw a pair in if you want to clean them.

I am 6ft and it fits me fine.

Price = £200, that covers the cost of the parts, the respray and the original bike, the rest I did for love!

Selling as need a geared Winterbike.
This was posted here previously at a higher price but removed as you can't advertise on here and LFGSS. Now removed from their site.
I live in Nottingham and would prefer collection

Someone posted on my ad on LFGSS highlighting their rules saying it could only be on theirs. As I thought it might sell on a dedicated site like that I took it off here, but didn't get any interest on their either.
If you look for raleigh 531 single speed on their site, you will see the post I refer too.

I think the bike will have to go in the attic until spring, might be a better market, hate to see it go, but am in the process of doing up a King of Mercia bike and the cost of the work at aercian is going to be £300 +

New build sounds interesting, and the Raleigh looks sweet - very usable and nice in a hot-rod way - sure someone will come along who loves it... Yeah not the best time to sell bikes (as I know!) maybe try Gumtree?

I never knew that about LFGSS, I'm not actually a member but one of my bikes sold through a friend of a friend on there recently.
