5 vintage MOMBAT bikes in 20 Anniversary BIKE mag

A couple of months ago, BIKE magazine sent a photographer out to take pictures of some of our vintage bikes for their 20th anniversary issue. We provide 5 of the 6 bikes for the "^ odd bikes that awed" feature. Each bike was a full page. They shot 16 bikes and some detail shots so their may be some photos in future issues as well.

based on their remit I think theres some interesting bike choices and certainly 3 out of those are bikes I'd love to try... although I'm surprised theres not ibis bowTi in there.

I'm sure there will ensue a big debate on what should or shouldn't have been included

all in all a very nice selection of odd looking rigs :shock:

perhaps the Ibis makes such a great looking job of being odd...it is very easy on the eye

Nice selection with a fine wheel choice. Did BIKE give you any more information as to what had informed their choices? What was #6?

I remember them 'first time round'. The Slingshot and the light beam were the oddest and certainly the direction the bike industry DIDN'T go in.

That was bike #6 and the only one we didn't have. It would be nice to have one but they still seem to bring a premium price and we just haven't found the right one yet.

Actually, in the US the were pretty darn popular on high end bikes. The Manitou and Ritchey had the wheels on them when we acquired them so they are "original" to the bike. The Trek came to us as a partial bike and we did put the wheels on it........just seemed to fit the carbon theme of the bike.

Aside from not liking the wheels, it does mean you see the frame differences and not just the wheels.

Do you get to use the pictures on your site as they are lovely clean shots and would compliment your 'casual' photos.

I also don't remember many air/oil forks blowing up. RockShox Mags and Marzocchi XC's where quite resilient. Elastomer-MCU/oil cartridge on the other hand (aka first Judy forks) where not which would be the fork of that period.
