5 speed freewheel query

Can a 5 speed freewheel be fitted to a 126mm spaced hub (replacing what would ordinarily be a 6/7speed freewheel?) I have a French threaded hub and happen to have a 5 speed French threaded freewheel lying around, but don't want to fit until until I know its OK as removing freewheels can be a PIA if you don't have the precise tool.

Did the French make a freewheel with me than 5 sprockets?
14,15,16 17,18 is enough for anyone surely?

126 came out because you can't get me than 3 on 120 - 130 came along to allowcyou to fit a 7.

Maillard went up to 7 iirc.

Hopefully the OP isn't running a thinner Ultra chain or similar that won't run on 5 speed.

The other issue is running a "block and chain" that haven't worn together

I've used a part worn 10 speed chain on an old school 70s chainring and old 5 speed block ok

I run Regina 4 speed on 116 with no problems on 1959 Hetchins
