.....Mark Cavendish is World Professional Road Race Champion.....46 years since Tom Simpson in 1965.....Today is a good day for British cycling.....i'm pretty happy and hope everyone else is too....yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm stoked, I live near where Tom Simpson was from so he's a legend around here, we even do an Audax named after him!

Really chuffed for Cav and the whole team, it's a pity they can't all have a rainbow jersey for that effort!

TS has always been a hero for me and now someone to follow him to a Rainbow jersey.....both are legends.....wonderful day......if TA were still alive he would be a very happy man.

Wow. Great. Thanks for SPOILING my viewing pleasure. Glad I recorded it now.

Next time, please tell everybody you're running a thread with results in. Not everybody gets the chance to watch these events live.

+1
I thought I'd be safe coming on Retrobike and "46 years of pain" was such an arresting thread title I clicked on it without even remotely thinking it was to do with the Worlds.

Mark.

Mea culpa....but ........just enjoy the moment and don't fret your life away on trivial matters.....just be happy.

Thanks for the guidance on how to live my life. I have no issue with you enjoying the moment and blurting it out in as many threads as you like. Just make sure the title explains that there is content that some people might not like to see. Then I could actually 'enjoy the moment' rather than knowing the result before the moment. There's a good chap.

I was talking to Barry Hobans sister (& brother-in-law) on Saturday afternoon (known them for years, & his dad, before he died)

It appears that Barry's pretty damned chuffed with it all, after such a time-gap

As you all know there's a further connection there, as BH married Tom Simpsons widow

Wouldn't be the first time that Cav's achievements earned the Hoban seal of approval. I seem to recall Cav got a rather nice bottle of fizz from Barry as a reward for beating his tally of TdF stage wins!
