27" 1/4 wheels to 700c

hello are 27" 1/4 wheels the same as 700c wheels as i want to upgrade my 27" 1/4 to 700c for better tyre choice any problems i may have in doing this

700c are smaller diameter than 27" wheels, so you will need a longer reach on your brakes. If your brakes are already close to the limit of their reach, then you will probably need to get some longer reach calipers.

easy swap just find some long drop brakes to suit and some frames make the 700 wheels look lost , with the extra clearances

just looking on ebay at 700c wheels and the descriptions seem to point to 28" wheels are 700c so this makes them bigger than my 27" 1/4

Rolling radius of 700c is less than 27 X 1/4"..... which is why they can sometimes look a bit odd as the clearences increase. What sort of bike are you converting ?

700c can be referred to as 28" or 29" depending on the context, but a 700c rim is 8mm smaller in diameter than a 27" rim. Here's some reading matter:

The number to pay attention to is the ETRTO rim diameter in millimetres: 622 for 700c, 630 for 27".

OP: are the pads on your current brake calipers mounted right at the bottom of the slot? If so, you will need longer drop brakes. But, as Jim pointed out, if you already have deep / very deep drop calipers you might be lucky to find any deeper than those shown in that photo :shock:

well it seems i have a 27" on the front and a 28" on the rear so gonna go 27" all round i think as old wheels are well rusty
